About La Dolce Vita
La Dolce Vita is the dream child of me, Laura Wilson, an avid cook and foodie. I started in the kitchen, watching my mother make delicious and fabulous meals almost every night. For her, there was no line between baking and cooking; she did it all and she did it well. I knew this as the only way to entertain and cook, never using a cake mix until I was married when my husband asked for a Duncan Hines chocolate cake. (Yes, we are still married after that shock.) Growing up, I did all the typical rural Indiana things like 4-H and FHA for years.
My cooking and baking skills have certainly evolved since those days! Yet I believe they laid a solid foundation for me. I have attended cooking classes in the States and in Europe, won several baking competitions, and learned much along the way. I have cooked with Patricia Wells, Rick Bayless, and recently returned from Paris, where I passed Level I and II Patisserie at Le Cordon Bleu. I will finish Level III Patisserie December 2013.
La Dolce Vita, or The Sweet Life, is located in darling Roanoke at 112 North Main Street. I founded La Dolce Vita on the premise of European elegance combined with American spirit. But it all began with food. All of the items on the menus are made-to-order, prepared with absolutely NO preservatives, and only the finest ingredients.
La Dolce Vita Offers...
Culinary Classes - I also offer a wide variety of cooking and baking classes, often bringing in guest chefs. These are either demonstration or hands-on classes.
Savory of the Month - Once on my mailing list, you will receive notices of these classes and the widely received Savory of the Month. This is an online or phone order for a small selection of savories, changing monthly that are in tune to the seasons. Orders are kept open for a week to ten days, then they are prepared and you are notified when they are finished. Delivery is option for a nominal charge.
Catering and Parties. Private parties may be thrown in my sweet little shop, and catering is also available. I have been the chef for intimate parties in many clients’ homes. I was also the chef at the wellness retreat, The Globally Inspired Life, held in North Carolina.
Private Parties and Celebrations - My new shop is big enough to host your birthday gathering, a rehearsal dinner, or a baby shower! It is beautiful and restful. Plan your next elegant event with me and be assured that all will be taken care of perfectly.
