Who Is Jeannie Tomkinson

After several years in Chicago as a technology consultant – first with IBM Global Services, and later with her own independent IT consulting firm – Jeannie left the dreary technology world in 2005 to pursue her true passion, the art of custom cake creation. At Chicago’s gourmet French pastry shop Vanille Patisserie, Jeannie was promoted within months from intern to Master Decorator. Under the apprenticeship of Dimitri Fayard, a member of the 2008 Team USA World Pastry Champion team, Jeannie mastered the art of creating edible masterpieces. Jeannie was regularly commissioned by the Drake Hotel and Trump Tower, among others, to create cakes for Chicago’s elite. Jeannie has since brought her talents to the Fort Wayne area, where she now lives with her husband JR and son Noah. Jeannie specializes in both glamorous event cakes and three-dimensional sculpted creations.

Specialty Cake Price Sheet

There is a minimum order of $120 for special occasion cakes. There is a $500 minimum for wedding cakes.

Custom cakes begin at $6 per slice. A Custom cake will have a simple, beautiful design. It is usually round or square in shape.

Designer cakes begin at $7 per slice. A Designer cake will have a more elegant, intricate or complex design.

Sculpted cakes begin at $8 per slice. A Sculpted cake is a uniquely shaped cake that may mimic the dimensional shape of real objects such as purses, cars, animals, etc.

Fresh fruit or nut fillings are available for an additional $1 per slice. The final price will be determined by the style of cake, number of servings, labor involved and the materials and ingredients necessary to create it.

Delivery is available within the Fort Wayne area for a flat fee of $35. Delivery outside of Fort Wayne is negotiable as needed. Orders may also be picked up at La Dolce Vita during normal business hours or by appointment.

In order to give appropriate attention to each cake, we ask that you book your order at least one week in advance for special occasion cakes. Wedding cake order must be placed at least a month in advance, but no more than six months in advance. A 50% deposit is required upon placing your order.
